Základní škola Velké Němčice, the Czech Republic

Základní škola Velké Němčice is situated in the south of Moravia, near Brno, which is the second biggest city in the Czech Republic. Students from many villages from the surroundings of Velké Němčice go to our school. The school cooperates with parents and is open to the public. We organize many workshops and events for them (Christmas and Easter workshops, concerts, adaptation day for new students and their parents, parent's meetings, sports events and many others).
Our staff is 20 teachers, one of them with physical disability. The present number of our pupils and students is 220. They are in the age 6 - 15. In our school there are 34 students with special needs, three of them have individual educational programme. We provide special educational support to our students and pupils with special needs.
Our school is involved in many projects; besides other things we have the title "Eco-school". In our educational programme we make efforts to show children how to keep a healthy life style.
Among the subjects taught in our school are Environmental education, Education to health, extra English lessons (English conversation). Most of our students are communicative, open-minded and interested in new experience. In our former Comenius project 17 of students had the opportunity to visit our partners and to live in their student's families. This improved their English and their feeling of European citizenship obviously. We would like to enable this experience to some other students too.
